Genocide of The Ku Klux Klan

You probably have heard of the Ku Klux Klan, and maybe you know something about the KKK. In this web site I hope to give you some new information about the Ku Klux Klan.

The Klan (one of the names of the Ku Klux Klan) was started in the winter of 1865-1866. The words Ku Klux Klan come from the Greek word meaning circle. The Klan was strong from the mid-1860's to the early 1870's. The Klan used violence to oppress the African Americans. They used to throw bricks through windows and burn crosses into hillsides. Their victims might be flogged, mutilated, murdered or tarred and feathered. In 1871 the government passed a law that allowed the president to use federal troops against the KKK. After the law the Klan soon died out.

In the early 1900's William J. Simmons, a former Atlanta Methodist, organized a new Klan in Atlanta. This new Klan grew rapidly and had around 2 million members by the mid-1920's. The new Klan did not last that long, and by the 1930's only local Klan groups remind strong. This happened because the general public criticized the violence of the Klan.

In the mid-1900's Samuel Green revived the Klan. This happened in 1946. Green later died in 1949. Because of Green's death the Klan split into many competing groups, though they all were against African American's gaining civil rights.

The KKK did not reach its ultimate goal of keeping the African Americans from getting rights, but were able to terrorize the black people of America. In my opinion the Ku Klux Klan should have never been started because they hurt far too many people and caused way too many families to fear for their safety. I feel that the Klan did not have any reasons and what they did was totally inhumane.

I like this web site because it tells you how racism is very bad I do not like racism myselfI feel sad about what happend to the black people.

sometimes our actions isnt all ways the best thing. to try and earse a certaing group of people just because they dont look like you or dont have the same beliefs, does not mean that they deserve to be treated any diffrent than any other human being.
